Budget

Below is an estimate for labor costs, rental equipment, space rentals, 3D printing costs, and parts total. This total takes into account the entire project length and is used as a rough estimate of total expenditures. 3D printer filament was calculated at $20/kg and I only plan on using about 200-250 grams worth. Labor costs takes into account the labor for the entire project at the national entry level hourly average of $28/hr for 12hr/week for 30 total weeks. Equipment and space rentals were grouped together, because CWU charges a single fee for both of $35/quarter, and the project spans 3 quarters. Finally, the total for parts is the cost of any parts purchased, taking into account the cost of shipping, handling, and taxes. The students allotted $200 for both the Steering and Drivetrain, as well as $200 for the Chassis and Suspension, which brings the total for parts of the entire project to be $400. However, the Budget Table below only accounts for the budget of the steering and drivetrain portion of the RC Baja project.

Parts List

The parts list is divided into 2 sections, the first being custom parts that the student designed and the second being parts that will be bought. The custom parts are labeled with a 20-### naming convention, symbolizing that the student created the CAD drawing and using custom dimensions. The purchased parts are labeled with a 55-### naming convention, symbolizing that the part is not of the student's own creation. Along with listing the parts, the student lists the quantity of the specific part needed, the part's cost, where it will be purchased from and date created/gathered. Some parts don't have a price associated with them, and that would be because the price is combined with that of another item, the price is annotated in the budget as either "3D Printed Parts" or "Total for Parts". Some parts were repurchased for many reasons, in which case the price of the current part being used is the price displayed. Finally, these parts will be essential to the construction of the RC Baja car, which will be assembled during the Winter quarter (Schedule Gantt Chart). The total budget spent currently is at $501, which is 100.2% of the total budget between both group members.
